Agents said the internet would never take off. I think AI is at that same point, and the advice I gave my class is short: review everything, then pick one tool.
I was on the corporate side for PropTech, and I helped start realtor.com back in the day. My last VP job was at auction.com. Then I figured selling real estate was easy, and I went full time into it. It isn't easy at all.
Back in the day, I had to go to MLS offices to say there's a thing called the internet, and we need to put listings online. A lot of agents told me it would never take off. Why would anybody give their information out? We had the thick book on the shelf. Who remembers the thick books?
AI feels like that to me.
## It moves in bumps
AI has the same kind of moment. It goes in bumps. It can't do something well, and then all of a sudden it jumps up. I use every tool I can find, and then one day a new feature takes off.
Lately I use it for video. I sit on my couch, run my footage through it, and it produces shorts, Instagram cuts and YouTube videos. I'm a TikTok star, just to let you know. By mistake.
## Two years ago is a long time
People tell me they tried AI once, it didn't work, and they moved on. Maybe that was two years ago. That is like 20 years in AI.
You have to keep looking at it. It isn't going away. Try doing your job today without internet access. You can't get on the zip forms, and you can't search the MLS. That's where AI is heading, one bump at a time.
## Review everything
Review everything before it goes out. I'm a big believer in the human in the middle. You can't blame ChatGPT or Claude when something is wrong. It's on you, because your license is on the line, not the AI's.
## Pick one and stick with it
My challenge is simple. Find the one thing, do it, and stick with it. You've got a lot of information thrown at you in one day, so you don't need to take it all in at once.
I'd suggest ChatGPT, and the free version is available to everyone. You don't need a subscription to start. You also don't need every seminar and every membership. I'm very cheap, so trust me on that.
